Heavyweight upgrade! We invite you to embark on a new experience of 'automated disaster recovery operation and maintenance'!

Data, as the most core and valuable production factor in the digital economy era, is the most precious asset of an organization and an important component of its core competitiveness. Once lost, the consequences could be catastrophic and even trigger social problems. With the digitalization and cloudification of various organizations' businesses, disaster recovery and backup solutions have become crucial measures to ensure business continuity and data security.

Datapp-AOB is designed for data protection and utilization, and is applicable to a variety of scenarios. With the in-depth advancement of digitalization, Datapp-AOB has undergone a comprehensive upgrade. While optimizing the user experience, it has achieved breakthroughs in multiple functional dimensions such as disaster recovery integration, automatic inspection, and multi-domain disaster tolerance, seizing the high ground of technological innovation in the disaster recovery field. Now, let's explore the many highlights and innovative experiences of the AOB 3.8.2 version together!

I. The Perfect Integration of Disaster Tolerance and Backup

What is disaster recovery? What is backup? There are various opinions on this and it's hard to reach a consensus.

As a technology enterprise that has always focused on disaster recovery construction and deeply engaged in the field of data security, DatApp has always advocated starting from demands and goals to determine the technical route and solution, refraining from hyping concepts and only focusing on actual results.

1. Requirements and Objectives

(1)Unified management and operation and maintenance of disaster recovery systems;

(2)The core business system requires continuous data protection and the ability to take over quickly. At the same time, it also needs to be able to take over using any historical state to address the rapid business recovery requirements in scenarios of logical errors.

(3)Comprehensive data backup is carried out, and the data of the virtualization platform, database, operating system, files, etc. are protected strategically in the form of native interfaces and stored for a long time.

2. Datapp-AOB 3.8.2 Version Solution

(1)Integrated disaster recovery and backup
It integrates application disaster recovery, continuous data protection, policy-based data backup, and data replica management, enabling all disaster recovery capabilities on a single platform. It automatically pushes and installs the corresponding client agents based on protection requirements, reducing deployment complexity.

(2)All-scenario protection capability
It fully adapts to various application scenarios such as database clusters, private clouds or virtualization, and public clouds, and can achieve full disaster recovery capabilities for all scenarios. It has enhanced protection capabilities for cluster scenarios such as Oracle RAC and realizes automatic adaptation of disaster recovery resources.

(3)One Cloud, Multiple Cores
Incorporating disaster recovery resources of various architectures such as X86, C86, and ARM into the same disaster recovery platform not only achieves comprehensive business protection across all architectures but also enables full-architecture business disaster tolerance and emergency takeover.

II. Automated Disaster Recovery Operations and Maintenance

The operation and maintenance of disaster recovery systems is an important part of the disaster recovery system construction. Regular inspection of the operation status of the disaster recovery system is one of the very important tasks. In the traditional scheme, we can only conduct manual checks, which undoubtedly increases the daily workload of operation and maintenance engineers. The new AOB 3.8.2 version has added the ability of automatic inspection, which uniformly summarizes and analyzes various situations such as disaster recovery backup protection, disaster recovery drills, takeover, and disaster recovery restoration, and presents them in the form of reports. After regular automatic inspections, it will also notify the administrator by email and other means, facilitating unified management and operation and maintenance.

III. Intelligent Copy Retention Strategy

Datapp-AOB version 3.8.2 introduces an intelligent progressive copy retention policy to retain more historical copies with limited space.

The retention period of historical copies and the capacity of backup storage are often in conflict. To retain historical copies for a longer time, more storage space will be occupied. Continuous data protection, due to its feature of being able to roll back to any point in time, usually occupies more storage space. Considering the actual recovery requirements in disaster scenarios, in version AOB 3.8.2, a progressive copy retention policy was introduced. For the most recent days (which can be set), microsecond-level copies at any point in time are retained. For earlier data, only one incremental copy per day is retained. This increases the retention period of historical copies while taking into account the issue of capacity usage.

IV. Multi-domain Disaster Recovery

Multi-data center mutual disaster recovery has gradually become the preferred solution for users' off-site disaster recovery. It has advantages such as full utilization of disaster recovery resources, lower overall investment, and strong disaster recovery capabilities. In contrast, traditional off-site disaster recovery solutions are often implemented through one-way data replication functions, which are costly and cannot meet the requirements of multi-domain and multi-center disaster recovery scenarios.

Version 3.8.2 of AOB introduces multi-domain disaster recovery capabilities, enabling unified management of disaster recovery platforms deployed in multiple data centers and forming a multi-active data center disaster recovery solution across centers. The data centers serve as disaster recovery for each other, achieving centralized monitoring, hierarchical management, and multi-domain mutual recovery. The disaster recovery system in each data center is not only used for local disaster recovery but also for remote disaster recovery of other data centers.
